Good 3rd Party replacement city for Greyhawk.

It's either Geanavue, the city built by giants which I agree, it is very well done.

Or Loona, the "port of intrigue", (a hive of scum and villainy indeed).

I am running the Paizo Age of Worms Adventure Path, with the party just turning 7th level and now about to head off to Greyhawk for the Hall of Harsh Reflections adventure.

I am going to pad it with some personal touch, bringing the exiled Balabar Smenk back in for a brief scene prior to the Champion's Belt where he will play a bigger role.

I wanted to break things up a bit and use a 3rd party city for Greyhawk instead and I was interested in suggestions.

I am considering using:
  • City State of Invincible Overlord
  • Bard's Gate - with some geography tweaks for Greyhawk
  • Freeport
  • Bluffside
  • Endhome from Lost City of Barakus
  • Durbenford - from Trouble at Durbenford
  • Liberty City - the Game Mechanic's City Quarters series, with Arcane, Temple and Thieves
  • Worlds Largest City
  • Ptolus

or maybe some possible old 3.0 PDF cities from back in the early days, like:

Any thoughts?

Good books all of them, but have you forgotten Sanctuary, from Thieves' World ?

I wrote the City of Greyhawk chapter of "Expedition to the Ruins of Greyhawk," which also includes a full-page map of the city. It's not a complete city guidebook or anything, but it does provide the "broad strokes" of the locale and I don't think using it prevents using buildings or neighborhoods from the other books you mention.

Plus, I loaded it with Age of Worms easter eggs, so you might find some pleasant surprises.

Another source you can use for inspiration is the real-life city of Chicago.
After all, my understanding is that Gary's home version of Greyhawk essentially was just a fantasy version of Chicago (and Dyvers was Milwaukee). Hence, it's a big city by a big lake in the middle of the continent... The Thieves Guild (organized crime) is also a major political force, etc.

Neat! I knew Lankhmar was fantasy New York, I never knew this about Greyhawk.

Sure. Gary's original campaign was apparently based on a map of the United States. The "Great Kingdom" was New York, and the areas west of Greyhawk were inhabited by dinosaurs, etc. The Greyhawk that he released for the public was actually an original work done for publication, only very loosely based on his home campaign.
