Good 4e Starter?

The opinions were mixed. The rogue (not core group) loved it and is still playing 4e. The paladin had the worst dice. The wizard (the most critical player in the group) hated it -- and what he saw of the wizard class. We only got a couple of combats in, and that was that.
Well, choosing a different adventure won't help with bad dice or change the 4e wizard class back into something more like 3E wizards.

Having said that, I didn't get KotS because it seemed pretty uninspired to me. I got Thunderspire (H2), though, and thought is was pretty good.

If you're just looking for another 'test-drive' of 4E, why not start at a higher level?

Starting at level 4 probably isn't much more complex than starting at level 1 and you'll get a glimpse of play at a slightly higher power level.

If you want something official, I'd actually suggest Kobold Hall, from the back of the DMG. Modify it (with some of the kobolds from Creature Incarnations in Dragon, maybe swap out some other traps).

Otherwise, you might check out some free modules people have made:
Raiders of Oakhurst - Reloaded is very popular. However, be aware it was made with pre-Core rules, so some of the stats may be very off. The original version is a session's worth, and the Reloaded version is a several-session worth adventure.

Then there's:
Return of the Burning Plague
Logging in the Twin Valley
The Blue Mountain Inn

Edit: Although, if your group played KotS, then they might be sick of kobolds, period. You might want to construct your own adventure.

Goodman-

Hall of the Mountain King is a very "classic" dungeon crawl- but not too cliche. Can be a real meatgrinder tho- (some great traps)

Isle of the Sea Drake is also great- if you liked X1 (Isle of Dread) you will LOVE Sea Drake. I love this adventure.
