Good at making monsters? I need an Aspect of Bane.

Mesh Hong, that is a nice build!

However, it has the glaring problem most Solo Soldiers and Brute have.. which is onely one action for each 5+ the party has...

Take another look.

For the first 325 HPs it has :
- 2 action points to spend
- a burst 8 stun power (which can be the equivalent of an extra action)
- a recharge burst 2 that should be able to target 3 PCs
- an at will that does 2 attacks, reach 2 and reach 3 (and lets the Aspect shift away from targets)
- threatening reach (3) which means it gets opportunity attacks from PCs moving up to attack it, or using ranged attacks within 3 squares (and if it keeps moving away 2 squares it forces melee characters to take the attacks)

That actually adds up to a lot more than 1 action for the parties 5+

Then at bloodied:
- it heals and regains an action point
- it has 2 full turns a round (2 lots of minor, move and standard)
- it gains the use of a close blast 5 that dominates 1 target (which is like gaining an extra action)

Other design considerations:
- variable resistance
- minor action to remove any status effect (other than stun)

Again, this creature is very busy and can do a lot more than 1 action for the parties 5+.

If you think I have missed something please explain, my Monster Maker gut instinct is telling me that this creature is a reasonable threat for a mid paragon party. But I am only human and might be overlooking something glaring obvious.

Hi, Sorry I hadn't gotten back in here sooner.

Thanks for all the imput, that Aspect of Battle looks awesome.

The main reason I didn't include any details about the enounter is it's all undecided, I was looking forward to seeing what all was out there already and building the encounter around that.

I was expecting the aspect to bring the fight to them, but do so at his lesiure so he can choice the battlefeid to a certain extent.

As for weather a Soldier makes a good Solo I don't know but that guy looks brutal to me. My characters are pretty powerful, a mere 2 of them alone, took a level 3 solo white dragon when they were at level 4. So it takes a pretty tough fight to put a hurt on them.

Take another look.

Ack! I need reading glasses!

I completely missed the Built for War action doubling and the shifty aspect of Edge and Point..

Maybe I need to borrow you for your expertise in my War of the Burning Sky conversion.... this build is indeed brutal. :o

Built for War shouldn't be an action - means standard daze tactics will deny it from using it.

Yes you are quite right.

This is a product of logical presentation, i.e. when bloddied something happens, but as it isn't an attack it really shouldn't be written that way because someone might imply that if it is denied the opportunity of using an imediate reaction (e.g. dazed or stunned) it wouldn't happen (RAW).

I will edit the stat block.

For Blade Assault, why did you write it as making the blade melee attack on each target in the burst, rather than something like:
Burst 2, enemies only; +23 vs. AC; 2d8+7 damage (crit 2d8+23 damage). Miss: Half damage.

It has an interesting effect on concealment, marking/defenders, and some powers that trigger on close or melee attacks to work it that way, so just wondering if it was fully intentional or more of a shorthand.

Another interesting point.

Again it is logical presentation. The power could be expressed either way, and each has its merits and flaws.

In this case I see the Aspect of Battle hacking away with its sword while spinning round. To me that sounds like multiple attacks with enough control to target only enemies, so I wrote it up as such. Unfortunately this is not the most optimal way to generate maximum or safest effect from a burst, but a rounded creature should have slight flaws as well as interesting advantages.

With the alternate approach (your power description) I would see the Aspect of Battle swinging its sword round in one motion, maybe without being able to distingish between ally and enemy. This would make it a true burst attack.

Each has its own effect on marks, concealment and powers. I try to present a range of approaches overall to allow for a little variation. In this case I just used the expression that I thought fitted the creatures style.

Of course I havn't taken into account Hopitallers Blessing, and I also carry the baggage of the way that I handle certain powers that key off multiple attacks (and the definition of multiple attacks). But I must assume that anyone reading the creature will do so in the context of their own group and interpretation of rules, balancing and making any needed modifications accordingly.

Just make it close burst X, targets only enemies ;)

Anyway, I just stopped by saying that whatever you chose to do, make it a solo, not an elite. Our experience is that it cheapens the feeling of meeting a god (aspect or not) and for it to be an elite (ie barely matching two characters).

Cheers
