That dinosaur find sounds awesome - it is always lots of fun to get cheap D&D mini-like items instead of paying way too much for the cheap plastic ones they sell. I've also seen pictures of people building dungeons with kids' blocks, which are cheap AND give a 3D feel to the dungeon.
Overall I'd say dinosaurs are not a bad pick for animation, though, you're right; they have lots of Str and some have several natural attacks. The only issue is once again that of finding them in your campaign...
