Good Elven Defender

I'm thinking about doing a one-shot with an all elven party, and I trying to think of what defender might work best. I think all of the other rolls have some pretty obvious matches.

Suggestions?

What level? I'd say Elf Fighter could be reasonable with a polearm, or two weapons. Warden or paladin might also work. Regardless of class, they'll do better with the striking build (so Greatweapon Fighter, Wild Warden, or Avenging/Ardent Paladin).

You could also build on a secondary defender role. This is probably easiest with an Avenger. Monk might be possible also. Maybe even a druid. Shaman multiclass could help any of the above defend a little better.

I had a lot of fun and good defending out of a triple-16 elven sword-n-board fighter; really solid FRW defenses and good accuracy on OAs. Using a +3 proficiency weapon and going with one-handed weapon talent, I had no significant trouble hitting.

I played up the shield for forced movement with things like Tide of Iron, Shield Bash, and Shield Push. Also, Shielded Sides came in quite handy. Shield Defense became increasingly useful at higher levels when I had more shield-requiring powers.

Now, are we talking Elf only, or any "elven" style race? Eladrin, Drow, Half-Elf, like that? Helps determine good candidates.

Tempest Fighter Elf. Use two short swords and you'll make up for the small [W] with a large flat bonus to damage.

Warden Elf. Dex helps with your AC, and Wis is secondary for Wardens.

Both builds need Str, but you can get away with a 17 Str.
