Good Elven Defender

Thanks for the responses.

For level I'm thinking low to mid heroic, probably 3rd level. I'm probably going to stick with pure elves, since the plot of the adventure is "Stop the goblin lumberjacks that are destroying our forest home." Half-elves might fit in, but drow are definitely out.

I'll take a look a couple of the different fighter builds.

If you want to try something exotic, and really cool, a elven Paladin of Correlon using the Champion of Correlon Path. I once put one together just curious to see how it worked, and ended up giggling with delight.

Its a bit MAD, but not to the point of crying, mainly a Chr/Wis build. It doesnt really kick in till late paragon, but when it does, you have a high speed, plate wearing, sword weildling paladin with a fantatastic AC. To top it off, I made it a laser pally.

Its a little odd, but in the hands of a good player, it would certainly be able to carry its weight, and it thematically right on the mark.

Warden Elf. Dex helps with your AC, and Wis is secondary for Wardens.

Both builds need Str, but you can get away with a 17 Str.

Note that a Warden can use Wisdom or Con (depending on the build) in place of their dex or int modifier for AC so the elven warden is doable but doesn't need dex for AC

If that's a reference to the Hide Armor Expertise Feat, note that they just nerfed it to a flat +2 in place of using your Dex or Int rather than using your Con bonus.

Nope, base build options
Every Warden has the option of replacing dex/int with either con or wisdom.

Earthstrength
While you are not wearing heavy armor, you can use your Constitution modifier in place of your Dexterity or Intelligence modifier to determine your AC.

Best defender I've ever had in my party was a 16 Str 16 Dex 16 Wis elf with a trident and shield. Good player, solid build.

Here's an optimised Elf Tempest Fighter that you can import into Character Builder. Its built around making dual strike as kick ass as possible (the feat allowing it to target reflex ensures this - also, the hide armour allows for the max tempest bonus). It also has a really fun daily power that lets you take out the target of your choice for a turn. Note you'd have to spend a minor to put away a weapon before using it.

Hmm, Enworld's formatting really messed that up. Anyone know how to turn that off and clean that up? Edit: I'm not having much luck with that!

DDI apparently just had a "Winning Races" article on Elves that gave some good benefits to mount combat, scimitars, etc. Good news for both Elves and Half Elves, as they can use Elf feats.
