Good freeware RPGs?

As I have had to skip Newerwinter nights and Icewind Dale II, because my current computer is a bit of the old side, I'm looking for alternatives.

Can anybody suggest some freeware RPG with good character developement?

Spiderweb Software makes fun games. Also, if you don't care about graphics, try the Dungeons of Moria or Nethack. They are old ANSI-graphics (as in text symbols - s=snake, r=rat, etc) games, but they are cool. I also seem to remember an old one called Dragon Shard being fun.

Also, if you don't mind something that is not freeware, but can be obtained cheaply, look for the bundle of all the old Forgotten Realms AD&D games. I think you can find it at Walmart, or maybe even Bestbuy, for like $9.99. It comes with a bunch of great stuff.

Betrayal at Krondor is a very good RPG from '92 or '93 that has been available for free for a long time now.

Planescape Torment also falls within the $9.99 range and can be found in bargin bins. Also, if you like a Mad Max type RPG, you can get a bundle of Fallout 1 + 2 from the bargin bins.

also if you like really old school stuff - Legend of the Green Dragon

Additionally, I believe you can get Zork for free online.

$10 for Fallout 1 and 2 is possibly the best gaming value ever.
