Good map maker? Mapper?

Nice set of links here! Thanks guys!

Also, I found this:

I'm kinda looking for a 3d mapper, but I haven't really found one that really blows me away. A lot of the 3d ones don't let you draw your own. You mainly just upload data from satelite scans.

Its been a while, but Bryce used to be the king of the 3d mappers. One of the guys from the old Greyhawk group, Anders Bernemalm, was a real pro at it. His webpage is still up, although I don't think its been updated in years. You can still see some examples of what it can do on his site at http://home.swipnet.se/~w-63082/

To answer that question in a way I could never do in a forum post, I recently put up a new page on my website for those who are looking for mapmaking advice for their campaigns and/or websites

Cool photo reference there. I use reference a lot, but never thought of using aerial photographs of ancient cities. Cool idea and nice maps.

Christopher West uses Bryce on some of his maps. You can check it out at: http://www.velocity.net/~westwinds/

I almost forgot, this website has some of the coolest maps ever. They are done in flash and have awesome features with them. Some of them have moving boats, others have a travel planner which tells you how far you travel across the land, others have overlays which show you the climate. This is a great link and an awesome website. Check it: http://www.agyris.net If you want to see all the cool maps I'm talking about, go here: http://www.agyris.net/v3/encyclopedia/places/maps/default.asp
