Good Mini-Game/one shot

Stone Angel

First Post
This weekend our DM will not be here and the rest of us has decided to get together anyway. So I was wondering if anyone knew of any good mini-games instead of plain old DnD. Or any really good oneshot adventures that are basically a session long?
Thanks in advance!

I'd check out the mingames from Polyhedron. Most of those would make a great one shot, with some great new rules, but the same d20 goodness.

I would recommend V for Victory (WWII), Spelljammer (really just a campaign setting, but still good), Mecha Crusade (Mechs with d20 Modern), or Gamma World (Post-Apocatlyptic fun with mutants, great way to kill off characters). I'm sure there are other good games from Polyhedron, but i can't think of them off the top of my head.

The Horizon line of games from FFG look good. I can attest that Grimm is good (and I can't wait to play!), but Spellslinger looks fun as well. At $15 the price isn't too intimidating for a one-off.

I second the Ployhedron minigame suggestion. The few that I saw looked fun.

It might also be time to break out the games that have been collecting dust on the shelf. Those, "I've always wanted to play this game" games. On my shelf that would be Continuum, Star Wars, Nobilis, and a few others.

If you have access to d20 Call of Cthulhu, the adventures in the book are good. Pretty much any adventure for CoC would be good for a one-shot. You don't have to worry about all those pesky details like how to keep the PCs alive and/or sane... :]
