So: Wizard 10 -> Dragonslayer 1 -> Spellsword 1 -> Eldritch Knight 8. BAB +15, caster level 19. Not too shabby.

Well, you can't. Not straight anyway.mattcolville said:This guy starts at 12th level and will probably never see 15th, so I'd like to get as much out of him now as possible. What if I ditched Dragonslayer and Spellsword and went straight into Eldritch Knight?
Nifft said:Just remembered this: Knight Phantom. Similar to an Eldritch Knight, but better.
Your new build: Ranger 1 / Wizard 5 / Knight Phantom 6Caster level 10th, cast in Light armor, provide transportation for up to 6 party members (perhaps including yourself, if your dragon wants to fight separately).
Feats by level:
1/ Ranger 1 -- [Track], Spell Focus (Illusion)
2/ Wizard 1 -- [Scribe Scroll]
3/ R1 / W2 -- Greater Spell Focus (Illusion)
6/ R1 / W5 -- [Still Spell], Mounted Combat
9/ R1 / W5 / KP3 -- Draconic Cohort
12/ R1 / W5 / KP6 -- Improved Cohort

Trouble is fitting it in. You don't get to cast in armor until after level 6, and your level 9 & 12 feats are already chosen (Draconic Cohort & Improved Cohort -- since you can't take D.Cohort until 9th level).Mistwell said:Might be a case for that feat that lets you wear armor one weight-class up from the one you can normally wear and still incur no spell casting penalty. Battle Caster I think. If you are going to ride a dragon, mithril full plate makes sense.
