Hell, yes, I've got hobbits... only they're called halflings by everybody which is exactly what the men of the West called them back in Tolkien anyway. I too didn't enjoy the kenderization of the halflings in 3E. I prefer them hairy-footed, beer-swilling, gardener-respecting, several-meals-a-day-eating hobbits to a bunch of wanderlusty mini-human gypsies.
And complaints about them being too homebody and only the real weirdos adventure are bogus. That's true of EVERY race of character in D&D. The vast majority of any race would be non-adventuring NPCs. It takes a special kind of nutball to go out and adventure no matter whether you're human, dwarf, elf, or halfling.
I'm not a big fan of tinkergnomes either. Kinder and tinkergnomes were fine for Dragonlance, but let them stay there as part of that campaign's special atmosphere.
