[GR] Holy/Unholy Warrior 3.5 Update Query

Count a vote here for comptability with 3.5. I love the fact that I can take published adventures with Paladins, and not have to convert them to make them compatable with BotR. People who come in wanting a Paladin I can tell that they can make a standard Paladin, but that there are other options as well. It's the strongest feature of the Holy Warrior.
Plus, 3.5 Paladins are better. Yes, summoning your mount is a advantage. If you want to take it away, be aware that you are hurting the class, and that players are a lot less likely to take mounted combat feats.

I think making the Paladin a possible outcome is a very good move.

Note that this inherently means that while someone can make a "pokemon" paladin, it sounds like the next nature of your approach is that if a reader doesn't like the summoning steed they can use another option.

If you've done it right, then you have a wonderful tool for people to do something other than the standard 3.5 paladin.

I look forward to hearing more about the project. By the time you guys have it out maybe it will be time for me to start up my game again (and thus I'll have a good excuse to buy it).

Agreement with those who believe that having the Holy Warrior able to reproduce the 3.5 paladin is a good thing. I do have to ask, if one option for the mount fixes it back to the 3.0 version, I'm in favor of that.

I think the 3.5e paladin sucks, but I agree that one of the selling points of the holy warrior class was that it could replicate the paladin with the proper choice of domains. In any event, my own paladin preference is neither 3.0 nor 3.5, but Monte's BoHM paladin; I guess if you are really feeling adventurous you could use that as the baseline. :)

I've already done the work for basic Paladin and for the Purified of Canelle.

Paladin was tough. I wound up switching the domains of some of the abilities.

I LOVE the BotR and would be really happy if you released something to update the Holy Warrior to 3.5. (Fixing the Prestige Classes could be nice to but, not as necessary.) It is imperative to me and my love of the HW class that it makes a paladin.

"pokemount" and "real mount" are two different gifts. The HW takes one or the other. Everyone is happy.

For a product meant for use with D&D, there isn't a good reason to not ensure that it's fully-compatible with the most recent revision of the game. Yes, this means that the BotR's Holy Warrior class should recreate the v3.5 Paladin.

We've been using and enjoying both the Holy and Unholy Warriors for a while now. Though the Paladin is no longer strictly encompassed by the Holy Warrior, I find that most other combinations of Domains and spell lists are comparable to the new paladin. So, while an update would be nifty, I don't think it is necessary for my group.

Chris:

I'm a huge fan of the BotR. I am, in fact, in the process of converting all its holy warriors to match the progression of the paladin in 3.5E. So, I'm very much in favor of Green Ronin (and preferably Aaron Loeb himself) updating these to match the 3.5E paladin.

Two points I think you may wish to consider:

1) Those of us on this board are not, by definition, the average consumer of RPG products. We're afficianados, and what we want may not be what the average consumer of RPG products wants. We will, for instance, rework it ourselves if you don't. Not so the average player or customer. So making it 3.5E compatible means it's easier for the average customer to use, resulting, presumably, in higher sales.

2) These reworks are not all that hard to do. The difference to Green Ronin in cost is negligible. So why NOT make it 3.5E compatible?

Tarondor, who signed up for this board just to answer this question.
