Grand Theft Auto: Vice City--Anyone else getting frustrated with the interface?

Yeah, you got my number on that. I don't do FPS. I'll have to give WASD a second chance, but it feels awkward.

Btw, anyone know how I can tell if one weapon's better than another of the same type? In particular, I have an Uzi, and I have no idea if buying a MAC 10 will be an upgrade.

I guess it depends on whether it's chambered with .38 or .45 rounds.

It's the mouselook that's important, it makes a world of difference when playing anything that requires aiming and you'll be using your primary hand for that, which is the more difficult task.

Using WASD is going to be especially important when you're on the missions involving helicopters or airplanes, as the default key setup requires you to use the PgUp/PgDn keys for up/down. And I'll fifth the Mouselook thing. Use the mouse to point/aim, then when you're on foot all you need to do is hit W to move forward.

For me, GTA:VC defaulted to having a health display/$$ display in hte top right corner, so I can't imagine what could be happening with your setup. Are there multiple HUD options? Some FP games have this, but I've never checked with Vice City because the default works fine for me.

I'm pretty far into the game at this point, having bought up the film studio, Malibu Club, Pole Position and a couple other places.

Nah, I don't like the vi (A,S,D) stuff. I just move my keyboard over to the left a bit and use the arrow keys.

If you use the arrow keys, you don't have quick and easy access to the spacebar and crouch keys, reload, etc. If it works for you though, go for it.

Honestly, I don't like the WASD combination, rather TFGH. TFGH is great becuase you can bind more keys (that is, they are more easily available) such as X and Z. Very few games allow you to bind Caps Lock and the "windows button" in games.
