Graphic Artists, I need your help!

ToddSchumacher

I like to draw!
OK so, I'm going to start looking for a new job in the graphics field. and I want some opinion on my Resume. I graduated college in 98 and had one graphics job (Pre-press) 3 years ago, and I'm kinda worried about that gap. I've done some 'pro-bono' work here and there for the local gaming club, myself, and a bit for d20Zine since I left that pre-press job. I also do stuff for myself. So I still use the programs almost daily. But Its not for any kind of pay or anything.

So I'm going to ask for help with two things. one, to look at my Resume and see if it's ok. Two, offer up suggestions as to what to put into a portfolio, projects or what-not.

Thanks.

Don't worry about it. I got a BFA in graphic design in 1997 and the past two years I worked in a nursing home. I was doing design on the side and before that past two years I was doing work on and off. I could not find a job where I lived. As long as your portfolio includes ads for both magazine and newspaper, some logo design, and basically the scope of what you can do for that potential employer you will be fine. You kept up on the programs that is a big plus. I just started my new graphic deasign job last Monday for one of the largest hobby magazines in the country and I love it. I had two interviews before that , one I wasn't qualified for (and seemed a big headache so that worked out) and the other was the company wanted to offer me way less then what the job would entail. Remember if it is a salary job ask a little more that way if you have to put in some overtime you are covered. Good luck!!!
