Grapple - Str check or not?

Not true. Power Attack and Combat Expertise apply a penalty to attack rolls, they don't actually reduce your base attack.

What he means is that since Power Attack is limited to your BAB, and your second grapple check is made using a lower base attack bonus (rather than using your full base attack bonus but applying a penalty to the total check), someone might make a case that for that second grapple check, your Power Attack is limited to the lower BAB figure you are required to use for that check.

Thanks all! I already guessed that a grapple wouldn't be able to apply a bonus to str checks, I just wanted to get more people chiming in. Which you all have done nicely, with rules references et.c..
