Grappled spellcasters

A quick question. If a grappled spellcaster decides to cast a verbal-component-only spell (such as Dimension Door, in order to escape the grapple), he doesn't provoke an attack of opportunity (since, according to the Player's handbook, p. 156, a grappling character doesn't threaten any squares)? He only has to succeed on a Concentration check (DC 20 + spell level of the spell he's attemtping to cast).

Have I missed something?

Thanks in advance!

He still provokes an AoO from anyone else who threatens him. Just not the grappler.

Yes, I'm aware of that. It just seems a bit odd that he doesn't provoke na AoO from the person grappling him. I'd assume the said Concentration check was due to the fact the spellcaster is being wrestled by someone, to see whether the can collect himself to even attempt casting the spell. The AoO would then represent the split moment when he concentrates and drops his guard for a second (like in regular combat and spellcasters provoking AoOs).

Regards!

Just see the higher DC in grappling as a combination of violent movement and casting defensively (only against other grapplers ;)).
