Clarification - a monk can use Flurry of Blows while grappling, but every attack in the Flurry must be an unarmed strike (or attack with a Light monk weapon) - no grapple checks at all.
I can't make three attacks with a longsword and then an extra unarmed strike with Flurry of Blows; I can't make three grapple checks and then an extra unarmed strike with Flurry of Blows either.
