Grappling Warlocks (continued from closed thread)

At 10th level, you can make a 50 ft. DD away. Not that great, right? But you also leave behind a major image of yourself [.....] you're now 170 feet away from him when he realizes you're gone.

Useful if you're playing a solo game, but if you plan to continue the fight and help your friends beating the enemy, you can't go too far; much more useful to become invisible, move behind your tanks and keep on blasting the enemy covered by your frontmen, IMO.

True.

There's a million uses I can think of for Flee the Scene, completely running away just being the one IO pointed out originally.

You could DD to a safe place and then blast the creature that is still fighting your major image, etc.

And you can use it at will, to boot.

And is therefore utterly useless...

Once you're grappled, yes.

But before then, I suggest that you DD onto the rooftop. Then blast them. When they see you or come near, DD into the tavern across the street and behind them. Blast 'em through the window. When they turn to find those blasts... they have to consider whether or not they should ignore the fighters of the group pounding them and go after you. Of course, even if they do you'll be gone before they get there. But you won't LOOK like you're gone. So they'll waste a round trying to get you, all the while you're on a different rooftop, waiting to smack them down.

Flight is pretty nasty too.

If there are no taverns or rooftops, then DD into a treetop. If that doesn't exist... well, just DD behind your own fighters.

If there are no fighters, and there is no maneuvering room. Go invisible. And what are you doing there anyhow?> You should know your weaknesses by now!!

Also note that warlocks DO have a mediocre BAB. They're only in as much trouble as a cleric, bard or rogue (without escape artist ranks - which aren't a given).
