Grease save

Sorry, miss PHB now...

Does Grease spell grant a Reflex save OR does it require a Balance check from the creatures caught in the Grease? OR both?

IIRC it is a Reflex save, but at the same time it sounds a very matter of Balance...

And it would be a more funny spell, since balance modifiers (for example at character level 20) can be -4 as well as more than +23, while Reflex saves bonus more or less are always in the same range.

Yeah, well, there's errata for the PH, too, so don't trust that 100%.

And people can speak falsehoods, so don't trust us 100%.

Is it possible the SRD is wrong? Yes. Is it particularly likely? No.

Although I belive the SRD to be very trustable, it's more interesting to ask people of this board, even when they are wrong. Forgive me if my question bothered someone.

Reflex save.

It's a particularly fun spell for sorcerers- multipurpose enough that it's not a one-trick pony, but useful enough that it isn't a waste of time when combat or whatever comes up.

Another great one for sorc's is arcane mark. Poof! You're a graffitti artist!

By the rules a Reflex save.

If using the 'grease the floor' option I make it a choice (although nearly all characters and monsters seem to have better Reflex saves than Balance checks...)

Grease is a fantastically versatile spell. As a readied action against a charging or running opponent (who then does not get a save!) it can be deadly.

Can you light the grease from 3E Grease spell on fire? If so, what are the mechanics? I seem to recall that in 2E we did something like 1d6 damage with a successful lighting attempt. You had to throw something hot enough like a torch to light it.

As written, there is no indication that the grease from the spell is flammable. So there are no official mechanics for it. You could, however, extrapolate something from the rules for setting on fire with oil.
