Great books for young people?

Raymond E. Feist's Riftwar saga (read that around 12 years old)

12-15 is a good age for this series, the romance is perfect for the young teenage mindset.

The Giver

The Adventures of Charolett Doyle

Something upstairs (great short mystery/fantasy/ghost story)

Magic Kingdom for Sale is a nice light hearted fantasy by Terry Brooks.

There is another one about a girl surviving a nuclear war and the conflict that arives when a stranger enters town. The girl had lived alone for a long while before he comes.

Did anyone here read The Giver while they were still young? It seems a bit...deep for youngsters.
