Great Character Actors (from Fantasy/Sci-Fi/Action)

James Hong - Not dead. He was Lo Pan, of course, was also in Blade Runner, and briefly appeared in The Shadow (which, oddly enough, I watched last night - awful movie.

Doesn't he also do Dao Lung Wong (sp?) on the Jackie Chan Adventures? If not, then the actor sounds very similar.

I'm putting my vote for Clancy Brown, who played Kurgan on Highlander, a colonist on NBC's short-lived series Earth 2, and most recently a voice actor on Jackie Chan Adventures. He also played the drill sergeant on Starship Troopers, and I believe he guest-starred more than once on the Trek franchise series.

He does, indeed, and seems to love every minute of it. Mind you, considering it's one of the best shows on TV, that's no suprise.

First guy that comes to mind for me is Tony Todd. He's probably not a name that a lot of people will recognize, even among posters here. He's made a few appearances in Star Trek, including Worf's brother Kern (Kurn?), a Hirogen hunter on Voyager (I think), and most memorably, a grown-up Jake Sisko. It was one of the most memorable episodes of DS9, at least in my book, and he totally steals that episode. I think he also played a gladiator in an early episode of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys.

Not to mention his episode of Xena as Cecrops And the Candyman movies. And his X-Files episode....

I nominate Agnes Moorehead. She played "the woman" in the classic Twilight Zone episode "The Invaders" as well as Emma Valentine in "Wild Wild West" (which, for some reason, I always think of as a sci-fi show--I don't know why!). And other stuff, which you can find at the IMDB. Of course, she is most famous as Endora on "Bewitched."

David Warner - He was in TNG, B5, and two Trek films as different characters. Not to mention Jack the Ripper in Time After Time.

Not to mention Evil in "Time Bandits" and the photographer in "The Omen."

Bill Paxton - Wasn't he in Near Dark?

He most certainly was. "Finger lickin' good!" is his most memorable line in that one (after he slits someone's throat in the bar and drinks the blood).

Max Von Sydow - Ming the Merciless. 'nuff said. EDIT: Actually, he's played Jesus, the Devil and Ming the Merciless. Samuel L. Jackson wishes he were that cool.

And a knight who battles Death (via a chess game) in The Seventh Seal. I highly recommend this film. I just saw it for the first time a few months ago, and I was surprised at how funny parts of it were. I was expecting nothing but the stereotypical Bergmann "despair" but it has so much more than that in it. This film rocks.

date, his epitome of evil and genre goodness, frickin' Lex Luthor
of Superman TAS and JL?!?

How about Brian Blessed? He's been in tons of stuff. There's Flash Gordon, Henry V and Black Adder. He's about as recognizable as they come, he's LOUD! and he's been on Dr. Who. That's good enough for me.
