Half of my combo is just "any intelligent assassin", but I'm a fan of giving them nothics as allies. The assassins provide the nothics with an occasional magic item they would have a hard time hawking, and the nothics use their Weird Insight on the assassin's target during reconnaissance. It's a great way to provide a reason for assassins to know otherwise undiscoverable secrets about the PCs, while also providing a possible backfire if the aberrations can be bribed or caught.
