Here is the 5th Round of the Great Villain Showdown. Only 8 Villains are left. Will Hannibal have Coyote for dinner? Will the apprentice defeat the master? Can the Napoleon of Crime defeat the Lord of the Ring? And is the Joke on Galactus?

Round Five:

1. Hannibal Lecter vs Wile E. Coyote

2. Darth Vader vs Emperor Palpatine

3. Professor James Moriarty (Sherlock Holmes) vs Sauron (Lord of the Rings)

4. The Joker vs Galactus

1) Hannibal Lecter
2) Emperor Palpatine
3) Moriarty
4) Galactus

Ooh, can you deal with a latecomer to the game?

1) Wile E. Coyote. Hannibel Lecter is a fantastic villain, but Wile E. Coyote is just mythic in his villainous sensibilities. Gotta love him.
2) Darth Vader. I can see the argument for Palpatine, but Darth Vader has got sex appeal. Note that he has to get burnt almost to death and be completely covered head to foot and be voiced by someone else in order to get that sex appeal, but he's got it. If we're going for behind-the-scenes machinations, there are better villains that Palpatine, but for in-your-face masked figure villains, Vader's the winner.
3) Moriarty. Speaking of behind-the-scenes machinations, here's the winner.
4) The Joker. He's just having too much fun.

1. Hannibal Lecter - Dr. Lecter would EAT HIM

2. Darth Vader - Guys, we've already seen this one...

3. Sauron - Moriarty would come up with a dastardly scheme, and Sauron would crush his soul with a mere thought

4. Galactus - see #3 above

Round Five:

1. Hannibal Lecter

2. Emperor Palpatine

3. Sauron (Lord of the Rings)

4. The Joker

None of these were as difficult as many from previous rounds. I am still bummed that none of my picks made it this far and the coyote did.

1. Hannibal Lecter
2. Darth Vader
3. Sauron (Lord of the Rings)
4. The Joker

This ones were easy.

Whoever predicted a Vader/Joker showdown for the finals seems to be right on the spot!

1. Wile E. Coyote

2. Emperor Palpatine

3. Professor James Moriarty (Sherlock Holmes)

4. The Joker

-The Coyote rules!

-Palpatine may have ultimately been defeated by Vader, but he was still Emperor, and in the immortal words of Frank Herbert he had "plots within plots." And his plots owned until his ungrateful apprentice killed him.

-Moriarty gets my vote because Holmes is second only to the Bats and that's because Batman had the Joker and he had primo toys.

-I love the Joker. I love him unto death. He's a psycho killer and he has no motivation. None whatsoever. He just does it because he can. And add to the fact that he turned his psychiatrist into his second hand chick. Harley Quinn is as cool as he is.
