Greater Shadow Conj. & Summon Monster Spells

Any ideas? The below question is from one of my players:

How does a Summon Monster spell that is duplicated using Greater Shadow Conjuration work? I assume the casting time for the spell is 1 standard action, as it states in the 3.5 PHB, but this is contrary to the casting time listed for each of the Summon Monster spells. If the casting time of a GSC spell duplicating a SMVI spell is, indeed, a standard action instead of 1 round, then when do the summon creatures get to first act? do they act in the same round the spell is cast since GSC is a standard action to cast?

The casting time is the one listed in the shadow spell, 1 standard action.

Yes they act the round they appear same as in the underlying summoning spell, as if the underlying spell had a quicken feat applied to it.
