I think you guys are right, maybe this list was to limmited, maybe some one could make a better list, to better represent the accuracy of oppinion, kinda don't feel like embarrasing myself with a second below par list.

dude! if you don't wanna be emberassed, go hide your head in the sand!:p have you seen the overlaps on my "how old are you" poll?

someone regularly emberassing you is part of leaving the house every morning(but then again, i gave that up years ago... )

Another good fictional bad guy:

Keaton always said, "I don't believe in God, but I'm afraid of him." Well, I believe in God -- and the only thing that scares me is Keyser Soze.

How about a repoll ?

How about a re-poll? Anyone want to add anything else to the list? Adding real people to the list might be a bit too much... otherwise Bill Gates would get all the votes.

To Tonguez: Gilles de Rais wasn't the marquis de sade... He was what middle-age people called an ogre, what we call now a pedophile and a serial-killer; so a true villain; but he was dead centuries before Sade was born.

Some fictitious villains I would cite:

Woodiver from Tschaï (Jack Vance). Truly loathable crook, and worse.

From the books of Vance also, each of the five Demon Princes. Especially Howard Alan Treesong, the greatest of the five.

Vladimir Harkonnen from Dune. An archetype in itself.

Darth Vader from Star Wars. An archetype like Vladie.

The Humans in Shaan (I doubt anyone else than me know about them, however, so I'll sum up: colonial army with cyberpunk/space opera grade technology, lead by a fascist sect of racial suprematist using genetically modified "godmen").

Jarlaxle (to keep my post somewhat on-topic, I had to place a D&D villain here: he's the best one I know).

Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot the Mule from Asimov's Foundation books. An interesting villain.

Who here wants to give a vote that I created one of the worst villan polls of all time.

I Vote, terrible attempt at a poll.

Don't be too hard on yourself....you could've picked out 50 names from popular and classical literature and movies and STILL would have left out another 50 great choices.

...the Great Old Ones, ...

Funny they didn't get more mentions here. Hard to surpass the Crawling Chaos Nyarlathotep as a villain. A lot of the other guys mentioned here are probably his avatars, anyway...

My numero uno villian would have to be every Number Two from the TV show The Prisoner. The show is incredibly mind-bending; Number Six must have had a +20 to his will saves. ;-)

I also cast votes for Asmodeus the Snake (Redwall), Darth Vader, Chickenhound (Redwall), Count Rugen and Prince Humperdinck (The Princess Bride (Read the book-it's better than the movie)), Voldemort, and President George "Noo-kew-lar" Bush.
