Ok my fiance and I are getting married in June 2006, now we are looking seriously at Greece as our honeymoon destination. Has anyone ever been there? Know of any nice places, good deal etc? Did you love it? Hate it? Why?

Well, I recently visited Crete. Funnily enough, I started a thread here on EN World for advice.

I can't speak about the rest of the country but Crete is really wonderful, though I visited in an off-peak time in May when it wasnt' overcrowded or unbearably hot.

There's a good mix of watersports, sightseeing, hiking, museums, etc, plus a relaxing atmosphere with lots of reasobably priced restaurants and cafes.

Crete was probably my favorite part of Greece that i have visited. I also went in off peak time, January, but when I went, I was walking around in a t-shirt and shorts most of the time.

My trip to the Peloponese was nice too, but I just liked Crete a lot more.
