Greyhawk - timeline assistance

Official ENworld Space Monkey
So I'm running an old-school Greyhawk campaign shortly, and I find myself a little muddled. It will be set around 569 CY, but I've got all these later events still in my head and I'm having trouble sorting them out. Basically, I'm looking for reminders on what was when, or if anyone knows of a good timeline (somewhere in one of my GH books, I have most all of them) or on the web?

The campaign will mostly be set in the Sheldomar Valley area, but with trips elsewhere I'm sure. It's going to be a modified post-Against the Giants thing of my own devising.

Things I can remember to remember (may not all be correct):

* Hardby is still on its own at this point, I think?
* Iuz is still trapped; Horned Society is active in his lands (or eastern parts therein?)
* Vecna hasn't risen to godhood, etc - what's he doing at this time?
* Scarlet Brotherhood still a 'behind the scenes' type organization.

Above are the types of things I want to get straight - any help in that vein would be appreciated. Also, any general info or references to info on Giants and Fomorians in Greyhawk and/or the Sheldomar Valley specifically would be appreciated - I've only got so much time and so many Greyhawk references to go through.

Oh, and if anyone knows specific hex coordinates for the original G1-G3 mods I would love to know them - I don't see that mentioned in the mono books that I have (sometimes these were in the beginning of the mod back in the day, but I don't see them in these for some reason). I remember them being in the Jotuns/Hellfurnaces area I think..

Any and all help would be appreciated by myself as well as my players :D

Thanks for that info qstor. That timeline looks pretty impressive - I'll have to go through it more thoroughly.

I didn't actually see the hexes marked for G1-3 on that second link, but it does list the general areas and that will help (it was about what I thought anyway).

AFAIK, Hardby has been on its own ever since Greyhawk seceded from the Great Kingdom. It is ruled by a matriarchy.

Yes. Iuz was released shortly after the Battle of Emridy Meadows. The Horned Society is a powerful evil threat in the world. Most consider it the second worst threat to peace behind the Great Kingdom.

Searching for his missing eye and hand. Vecna probably would not play a large part in any pre-586 CY campaign, unless his hand and eye are involved. He has a cult, but it is infinitesimally small at this point.

Yep. No one would know what you are talking about if you mentioned them in 569 CY.

Here is the old skool timeline from the Greyhawk Compendium.

Some good info there, although some of it seems lifted direct from other sources (like the original GH box set).

Yeah, the Gynarch/Despotrix rules Hardby, I do remember that. What I was referring to was that Hardby gets 'taken over' again by Greyhawk later, IIRC - at least in a manner of speaking. They have to pay tribute and such. I just wanted to make sure that was later and not at this point in history.

Cool, that's about what I thought. Vecna has a big impact on the area my campaign will be in later, so its good to know what he was up to in 579 or so. If he's out and about, I won't worry about it (though maybe a chance encounter with some cultists the players are in the way of or something if I need some additional material).

Any specific groups or individuals that you think would play a part during that time/area? I'm trying to make things as Greyhawk-ish as I can because half my group is grognards and the other half is 'hawk newbs. A great chance to intro some and wow the others :)

The Free City took Hardby under its wing again after the Greyhawk Wars. That would be circa CY584 from memory (no books with me ATM). :)
