If it gives you any insight, Wulf, I bought it for the supplemental material and not for the adventure.

Wow. Huh.

What in particular?

I mean... heck, I appreciate it... but the Mass Combat system is available in PDF for, like, a buck fifty.

Product Description: Slavelords of Cydonia is the first adventure sourcebook for Bad Axe Games' Grim Tales. Set in a time and place of the GMs choosing, Slavelords of Cydonia pits the heroes against tentacled horrors from beyond the stars in a world-spanning struggle to avert a second cataclysmic war. The book features a complete campaign for adventurers level 1-20, in addition to supplementary source material presenting new monsters, spells, technology, races, feats, and talents suitable for any Grim Tales campaign. Slavelords of Cydonia is 100% compatible with the latest edition of world's most popular roleplaying game, and can be played with or without the Grim Tales campaign rulebook.

I wanted the spells, feats, and talents mostly. I have read Grim Tales like five times now and am in the process of ramping up for a new campaign. Honestly, I wish I had more of your work in print as so much of what you've done is in complete alignment with the kind of games I like to run.

Bring on the magic book! Oh, and gimmie a monster book while you're at it!

Hmm... that product description looks a little outdated. I don't think you'll find enough feats and talents to satisfy you, if that drove your purchasing decision.

Most of the supplementary material is there in support of the adventure, and I don't think you'll be able to strip-mine it for much.

If you get the book and end up unhappy, let me know right away.

:(

While I'm not too worried about the money (and I'm happy to support any GrimTales product line), I'm sad to hear there won't me much useable content for my game.

While I have your attention, Wulf, where can I find the GT errata? You mentioned it in a different thread.

Maybe I will pick up that excel creature creation sheet. Has feedback in regards to that been pretty good?

I picked up Slavelords right after it's release. Hopefully with the popularity that Shackled City is receiving you might get some converts down the line. I had Slavelords first, and think it's great. The books are similar and different at the same time. Slavelords gives the DM more power, and shackled city does a bit more hand holding. Both excelent.

I'm sad to hear it's in the hole. Since the ball was "dropped" during the first month does that mean it's possible we'll see another campaign book or is that unlikely?

Other than the ENnie nominated, epic-length adventure, you mean? :D

Not much to it, really-- so brief that I've never posted it. Off the top of my head:

1) Improved Caster Level should not increase your Spell Burn Resistance.

2) Minimum level of effect for spells should be equal to the spell level.

Those are the two major "goofs" by way of errata. I do have a file, but it's very small.

If you have the search function here on ENworld (I do not, for some reason) then search for posts by Wulf that contain attachments-- that should dredge it up.

It's quite good. Drop me an email and I will send you a copy by way of apology for the Slavelords mix-up.

First, as a businessman, it is very hard to justify another "experiment" like Slavelords if it doesn't sell. If you have read Slavelords, you will realize just how much of a departure it is from most adventures:

1) It is d20, not D&D

2) It's not even strictly fantasy

3) It's epic length

4) It's for experienced GMs

5) It's an adventure-- period.

With a couple of success-story exceptions like Necromancer and Goodman Games, adventures typically don't sell that well to begin with, so it really was a very unique and ambitious project, even given the best of circumstances when it was launched.

And now add to its problems the fact that it was not launched well or even sold into the distribution channels with any vigor. (And what product was initially sold into the distribution channels, that profit was swallowed up by the "disappearance" of Osseum.)

Second, considering that I have to doff the businessman hat shortly to put on one of these, it would not be, shall we say, "politically correct" to make another large investment of money and time (mostly time, honestly) in a "labor of love" campaign book right now (however much the idea may appeal to me).
