This handsome humanoid has a feral gleam in his eye. With dishevelled brown hair and a lopsided grin, he looks decidedly roguish. He wears a laurel crown with open doublet and reddish brown beeches, all stained with dirt and wine. He peers at you from a drunken haze, holding a tankard in one hand and a feathered hat in the other. Despite the creature looking exceedingly inebriated, his green and purple eyes are clear and sharp. They follow your every move.
The vitaceae perform a dual role. On the one hand, their natural tendency for excess goes hand in hand with their propensity to revel. Their love of alcohol and ability to remain sober is legendary. On the other, they are the forward scouts and foremost assassins of the Fruits. Their debauched natures providing a fitting cover identity.
A vitaceae is about 5 feet tall and weighs about 100 pounds.
Combat
Vitaceae are not instigators of violence, but they don’t back down from it either. They seek to entice newcomers with offers of wine and song. However, they do not hesitate to make use of charm person or emotion to magically compel revelry from anyone who does not wish to join their debauchery.
Grape Vine (Ex): A vitaceae is immune to poison and suffers no effects from intoxication. Each vitaeceae carries a length of rope some 30 feet long that entangles opponents of sizes up to Large as an animate rope (caster level 5th). A vitaceae can hurl its rope 10 feet with no range penalty. A vitaceae may also use this rope to constrict opponents, dealing 1d6 points of damage.
Debauch (Su): Vitaceae try to draw strangers into their perpetual revel. Anyone who joins a band of vitaceae in their debauchery, whether voluntarily or through the beguilement of the vitaceae’s spell-like abilities, must make a Will save DC 14 or lose all track of time and start carousing alongside the vitaceae. A victim ensnared by the vitaceae’s debauchery will not willingly leave the mob. At the next sunrise, the victim must make a second Will save. If successful, the debauched character recovers his or her sense and may leave if he so chooses, although the vitaceae are likely to begin the whole process anew.
Rend (Ex): If a vitaceae hits with both claws, it latches onto the opponent’s body and tears the flesh. This attack automatically deals an additional 2d3 points of damage.
Spell-Like Abilities: At will – greater teleport (self plus 50 pounds only). 3/day – charm person, goodberry, Tasha’s hideous laughter. 1/day – emotion. Caster level 5th. The save DCs are Charisma-based.
Sugary Goodness (Ex): A fruit may sacrifice itself so that others may live, be freed from any curses and the like. The vitaceae may allow itself to be eaten to restore one humanoid of up to 8 HD.
Tasty (Ex): A fruit is naturally tasty and is part of any balanced diet. Too much fruit may give you gas however. You have been warned. Everything in moderation!
