It can only do better than the videogame DA2, which seems to have fallen off a cliff into the bargain bin.

Yeah, I've been playing DA2 and it just has not grabbed me like the first one. I still like it.

Anyway, thanks to the OP for the heads up. I've wondered if the second set would ever get released.

I don't really understand the affection the first one had. The origin stories didn't really matter in terms of the overall plot, and the plot itself was lackluster. The setting was "gritty for the sake of being gritty" and most of the cultures were standard fantasy archetypes. The enemy was a generic zombie/orc hybrid that you ground through endlessly. There was absolutely no innovation in gameplay, following the same Bioware formula they have used since NWN1, and the graphics were no better than NWN 2.

So someone needs to explain to me what the huge appeal was for them. I like CRPG's, and I play a lot of them, but it seemed like just another mediocre CRPG to me.

Was the story original? No, not really. But then again, its a good story. As an example - just because A Christmas Carol has been made into numerous holiday specials does not mean someone else will not do it again with some rather predictable twists (but it may or may not be good).

On DA:O I particularly enjoyed the interaction between the main character and the party and other NPCs. Aside from not having the main PC voiced, everyone else was and they seems to take the effort on matching up expressions and the interactions were generally meaningful. That is what raised its level for me.

And I think that is what is lacking in DA2 - the main character is now voiced, but there seems to be less interaction, or perhaps its just not as well done. I cannot put my finger on it, but something is missing, much like a pie with the wrong ingrediant mix - it looks like pie, but something is off. At this point, I am just playing it because I bought it and I want to get my $'s worth, not playing it because it has gripped me. Its not bad, its just not great.
