GSL Publishing Partners Page

That is a really good idea! Is it possible that you also list companies that are translating products, or creating new products in foreign languages? (for example: PlayFactory translates WotC products in french, and Editions Sans Détours translates (in french too) some Goodman Games poducts). Thanks!

If they are on the GSL (sent us the confirmation card) we'll add them.

Also, We will be adding our official D&D licenses to the page including those companies that translate D&D to non-English languages (like 25th Edition in Italy) and other licenses like Jinx t-shirts.

Great move indeed. Would be nice to see it in a more visible location on the website (maybe as a separate tab or at least as the current News item) but I think that'd be asking too much. Still I cannot imagine many places that are better to advertise 4E 3PP than WotC's own page.

It will get more prominence on the new web site

No, I think it's a great move by WotC - just as it was a great one for Paizo.

Like Apple promotes the 3rd party apps for the iPhone, the 3rd party stuff can enhance the base product.

I mean, without Shazam, the iPhone is just a cell phone. ;)

I have wanted to do this for a while, but giving credit where credit is due, Paizo's page got the match under my foot to get it done.

New web site? Does this mean what I hope it means?

The website overhaul was announced as being in the works for a long while now, though I'm not sure if they ever made a formal announcement, or if it came out via one or more posts on the WotC forums, etc.

I must have missed that. Thanks. Although there is a big difference (in my mind) between an overhaul and a new website. Also the fact that Scott talks about it (again?) could indicate that things are moving along - or at least we could hope so.

Perhaps there'd be a spot on the page where each publisher's logo would take turns appearing . . .

Or, you know, since you already have banner ads, publishers could get free turns taking up that slot.

:D ;)

The page will be similar to what we have now. A list of links, logos, and blurbs to re-direct to publishers.

As you can imagine the ad space on the site is pretty dear. Sometimes even internal groups fight over the space and will be used for WOTC brands.

What outside-company advertising opportunities does WotC have these days? Can you direct me to a link where a game company can find information on how to advertise through WotC avenues, the website, the mags, product end pages, etc.?

Mark,

At one point in time there were outside ads on the WOTC site managed through Google but we have stopped accepting outside advertising and all the banner spaces on the WOTC pages will be dedicated to in house marketing.

The exception would be uses like the GSL partners page and other news items or promotion we give to other companies.
