GSL vs. no GSL Forked From: Where are all of the campaign settings?

You know, I thought I was going to tell you the recent DCC's were GSL (DCC 53 to 55), but they are not. They are 4E compatible under the OGL.

So could you go to the last few pages of DCC 56/57 and tell me if they too have an OGL statement page?

They are OGL. (although the OGL in the back of nr57 is the 56 which has been copy/pasted, hehe)

PS: What about those C&C house rules? I wasn't kidding in the other thread when I asked where I could find them. Your statements made it very interesting.

Thanks.

??

I missed any question you asked in another thread. When you look at my house rules the things you may likely find the most interesting is under wizard, priest, spellcasters, and SIEGE CHECKS. These are the areas where you see how I integrated feats and one 4E idea into my C&C.

Skills stands out on its own. There are two sets of rules there, the one I used to do and the one I am moving to.

Edit: I found your question in the 2009 thread.

All kinds of terrible things happen to your rights if you use the GSL.
No only one or two terrible things happen to several small rights if you use the GSL. The big GSL flaw involving adventures is you can't reprint monster listings. That makes your customers mad. The IP value of most adventures is nil and thus giving up rights to them is not so terrible. Remember I said you may as well use the GSL if you are willing to just say "3 orcs are in the room" and not include their stats. The GSL is just dandy if that's your intention.

I would not release any other kind of supplement under the GSL though. And in fact, I don't make adventures so I haven't signed the GSL.

So sure, not everyone likes the GSL. Okay, maybe no one likes the GSL. I am sure just about every publisher would prefer the OGL. But that doesn't automatically make the GSL terrible and it doesn't make it beyond comprehension if you sign on to the GSL.

You are correct. What makes it terrible is that it allows WotC to change it any time, making you responsible for knowing about the changes, causes you to offer to pay the legal costs of any involved litigation against you, acknowledges a contractual right to respect their ownership of game concepts which are neither patentable nor trademarkable, and allows WotC to demand you destroy stock at any time for any reason.

What makes substantially different from many other license agreements is that it is completely one-sided and offers the licensee no recourse whatsoever for anything, while granting... the generous offer not to sue you for publishing something which might not be infringing in the first place, or if so, may be fair use.

I am gonna skip out of this debate. It's pretty obvious that we have fundamental differences of opinions on this subject.

Cheers

Oh my gosh. I didn't realize it still did all that. I thought that was just the first draft which everyone laughed at. I would never accept an agreement which allowed WotC to demand that I destroy my stock. That's like burning money. Ridiculous!

No, that was my mistake, they are OGL compatable.
No worries, I like the OGL better anyhow.
