Guide Artwork

I just saw on the guide main page that artwork is still needed. While I am no artist, there are plenty of erotic images on http://www.elfwood.com. A lot of the artists there are gamers, and I am sure that at least some of them would be willing to let you use some of their stuff if proper credit is given.

Also, how about a mailing list on e.g. YahooGroups to provide a more streamlined creation process for the guide?

Can't wait to see the finished netbook,
Marc

@Sorn: I know Elfwood, and I know, that the number of images, they got, is quite astounding. How about you finding some nice images and contacting the artists (g).
Never thought about a Yahoo-Group (never participated at any).
A mailing-list should not be to hard to come up with. Will see, if I can to a small one.

@Zelda: did we have access to a database at the server?

Kolvar: Not yet, I kind of abandoned that part, since you (and other's even less) seemed not that interested at the time.

I just re-asked, and that could work out. I will know next week.

I could do the newsletter filebased, but that will be very slow and if the number of subscribers gets to big, will not work properly at all (timeouts etc.)

Kovlar: Sure, I can snoop around on Elfwood a little and see what I can find and whether any of the artists there are willing to "donate" artwork. I'll keep you guys posted.

As far as mailing list goes, YahooGroups are mailing lists. They also have file storage areas and a database. The nice thing is that you don't necessarily have to post by email. You can also post directly on the site, peruse the archives. You can choose to get all posts by email, or alternatively get a daily digest, or no mail at all and just read it on the site.

If there's interest, I can set up a sample group and then turn over the moderator rights to whoever wants to run it. If it doesn't meet approval, we just delete it. Lemme know (either here, or alternatively, my email addy is in my profile).

On to something completely different: Is anyone actually working on formatting the guide? If not, I could help out with it.

As an afterthought:

What kind of artwork should I be looking for? As you said, Elfwood has thousands of images, so everything that would help me narrow down the search would be helpful.

Is the goal to make it more printer-friendly (i.e. B&W art, mostly pencil) or more web-based viewing (i.e. full color)?
