Testing from Linux, the sample PDF worked fine with xpdf and acroread (the latter is adobe's acrobat reader for linux, the former a free program); but the fonts (all) didn't appeared on KDE's built-in viewer (kghostview).

On the layout itself, it looks great.

@Gez: Thanks for checking the file. I'll see if I can get that fixed.

Any MAC users out there? I don't have access to a MAC, so if anyone could check out the sample file, I would greatly appreciate it.

d20 license

Ok, one other thing I'd like to raise here. I am not a lawyer, so "legal speak" confuses me as much as anyone else.

To be in compliance with everything in the OGL and its associated licenses (d20 logo trademark, etc.), is there anything that will have to be done in the final layout? I somewhat gathered that certain content should be designated by using different fonts/size/formatting to be in compliance. Since, as I said above, I am not a lawyer, I have no idea what would qualify for "special treatment".

If anyone could give me an idea on what to do, I'd greatly appreciate it.

as long as we tell, that everything is open gaming content (what is done at the end behind the OGL), we should have no problems.

Sounds good. I'll look at a few of the other netbooks floating around and see what exact wordings they use for their fine print (and where to put it in the final version.

@Averil: Could you check your email please? Last week's attachments didn't make it through.

I took a look at Monte Cook's BoEM II. I think the wording there is quite extensive and we should try to do something similar.

Is the version of the guide on the website the version from which the pdf will be made? If so, I have some questions about it (maybe they were already answered before, I only recently taken an interest in this guide) :
- On page 26, Table 1 : Natural diseases ; Table 2 : Additional effects ; on page 27, Table 1 : Magical diseases. Shouldn't that be table 3?
- Why does the probability of having a child of a given sex change in time of war? Furthermore, wouldn't the wording be better if you said "a roll of 11 or lower" instead of "a roll below 12" (page 40)
- On page 41, you give a number to the table "Chance of more than one child" whereas you don't give numbers to all tables. Also, on this table, the chance for a half-elf of having triplets or quads is the same, is it normal?

That's all for now, but I may edit this post later, if I find other weird things...

BTW, your work is great, as is the work from the original creator of this netbook!

@poilbrun:

The version that's available on the website is only the draft version. Averil is doing the proofreading/editing at this time, and once I get the revised files, I will do the layout. While I am doing that, I will also keep an eye out for any numbering issues for tables and such. In its current form, there are likely to be a lot of misnumbered tables etc., since all the material presented is a mix of old and new from different authors.

No idea on the pregnancy questions. I am just the layout monkey.

@kolvar:

Checked it out myself, and liked it too. Already working on a blurb for that. Also checked BoEM I, Netbook of Feats and Darwin's World. Similar text there, so I'll come up with something this week.

@poibrun: Averil is editing the whole file at the moment. Therefor: yes and no.
The table numbers are probably my mistake (copying from the old guide and forgetting the table numbers)
(Averil! do you read this? check the tabe numbers)
Pobability of having a child during a period of war: 1. the man are gone.
2. fertility is reduced due to lessened nourishment.
3. miscarriages increase because of nourishment and hardship.

After the war: somehow (probably because of pheromones and a desire to have sex with the returned combatants) pregnancy increases often after a war (and somehow more male children are born than normally).

Thank you for checking (and being one of the few with such a deep look)
