I always wondered if guns give fighters firepower like Wizards, would wizards sit there and take it? Probably not, watch out for Wizard guns.

I need/want guns in my DND, I may be the sole person in my group who does, but I am the DM and so NPCs occasionally show up with guns. I have one gun rule, Shield bonus does not count. Other than that they do comparable damage to other ranged weapons with greater range, but cost about the same as magic items.

I'd love to see gunpowder mentioned in the core rules, even if it's slotted under an 'alchemy'/'gadget' power source.
My only caveat would be that the damage dice be open-ended, to better-reflect the deadly nature of a searing-hot wad of lead launched at sonic speeds.

I like gunpowder - but I'm more indifferent in terms of whether it needs to be in the rules.

One approach would be to classify weapons and armor by era/style; early medieval/dark ages; high medieval; and late medieval/rennaissance. You don't want to get too historical, but offering that as an option.

I wouldn't mind seeing them finally implement primitive firearms semi-realistically -- that is, virtually indistinguishable from crossbows. They should not be super-powerful weapons usable only by trained experts; they should be unreliable weapons usable by peasant levies.

That's pretty much how they are in the 3.5 rules...just really loud and expensive crossbows.

Gunpowder as a part of the core game would be the first thing to really tick me off. I'm not saying I wouldn't buy the books or wouldn't play the game, but no campaign that I DM would have it, and as a player I'd seriously consider dropping out of any group that allowed it. Gunpowder is anathema to my perception of fantasy gaming.
