Yes, that would be awesome. His series of articles on undead that ran for years and years in Dragon was one of my favorite things ever. Lots of cool monsters there.

Right now I'm working on a conversion of the casurua, which is a poltergeist-like undead that I had much fun with in a session of my 2e campaign. In fact, I'm struggling a little because the monster concept is so much like a poltergeist -- I'm trying to find a way to distinguish it.

Very nice work, Garnfellow!

If you've got the Dragon Compendium, the work's already been done for you. ;)

No kidding! Glad I didn't get very far, then. How are the monsters in the Compendium?

That's a book I keep getting on and off the bus about. When I first heard about the concept, I was so on the bus, it was something I was really looking forward to. When I saw the table of contents, I was off the bus. When I heard Mike Mearls was a major designer, I was on the bus. When I started to read some early reviews, I was back off.

Maybe this is enough to get me on the bus long enough to order it?

It's a good book. I wish it had focused more on updating pre-3E material, but it's still worth it.

The monster selection is quite good:

Beholder, Bleeder
Blackroot Marauder
Bonespitter
Bonetree
Casurua
Chaoswyrd
Ciruja Plant
Elemental Demons: Air, Ash, Earth, Fire, Ice, Water
Dragon, Orange
Dragon, Purple
Dragon, Yellow
Glasspane Horror
Grandfather Plaque
Mummy, Bog
Ragewing
Spiritus Anime
Troll, Fire

Templates:
Bodak Creature
Demonically Fused Elemental
Ghastly Creature
Ghoulish Creature
Ravenous Undead
Seelie Court Fey
Trap Haunt
Unseelie Fey

Some good stuff, for sure -- those elemental demons are from a Mearls 3e article, right?

Anything notable that Mike did with the casurua to distinguish it from a poltergeist?

Yep, those are the same 3E demons. I'm not sure if it was a Mearls article or not. It was the one with hellforged devils and battleloths as well.

The casurua has a dreadful presence (essentially frightful presence, but scarier), the ability to loose a volley of stones in a 60-foot cone, and ghost sound as a free action each round. It also deals Wisdom drain with a touch. It also has a truckload of Hit Dice.
