What is the ECL for a Half-Celestial? According to Book of Exalted Deeds it is +2, but according to the Monster Manual it is +4, what is the correct value?

BoED has an alternate scheme for the Half-Celestial template to facilitate its use for PCs. That scheme starts at +2 ECL and scales up as the PC levels to reflect the power of template rising with HD(class levels).

It's still not entirely settled whether or not hit dice from class levels count for the Half-Celestial abilities. Most templates don't care what class levels you have, but Half-Celestial and Half-Fiend have text that ambiguously might supercede that rule.

The MM's +4 is definitely adequate for the template with all the spell-like abilities, but is the BoED's +2 fine without them, and would the LA change as more class levels are gained?
