Half-Dragons and Enlarge Person

Our party has a half-dragon human monk (Medium size). A half-dragon of Large size or greater has wings. If Enlarge Person were cast on the monk, thus making him Large for the duration of the spell, would he also gain wings for the duration of the spell?

No. Enlarge Person wouldn't do anything at all. It works on thing which are Type: Humanoid. Your monk is Type: Dragon.

Too bad there aren't any ghost dragons anymore... the best friends of dragons.

In a fun game, the DM had a shop in town where a ghost dragon offered to dragons to age them. That's much better than the puny Enlarge Dragon spell.

I would check either Races of the Dragon or the Draconomicon for a possible spell.

As for growing wings, I would say no (if the wording of an enlarge dragon spell was similar to enlarge person). I don't have any solid rules to back this up, but it feels wrong to try to add them. You've already applied the template to the base creature; you shouldn't be able to go backsies & reapply it (especially to something already at full physical maturity).

The Expansion psionic power would do it, but it's self only.

Anyway, I'd say no. Half Dragons have wings if the creature is large. If they're made bigger via a spell, the base creature isn't large; they're medium with a spell effect on them.

I'd say yes. My thought is that a medium creature has the wings, but due to their smaller size they are unable of actually allowing the half-dragon to fly. A larger creature's wings though are powerful enough to allow flight. On that, I'd have to say yes, it would.

I'd be inclined to say no, but one of WotC's 3.0 adventures* had a half-dragon BBEG who used that "trick" to gain wings.
