Lets say your grandmother slept with an incubus. By accident. 2 generations later, you pop out, a tiefling. You start planeswandering, when you hit a reasonable age, and meet a cute Incubus in a bar. One thing leads to another, and 9 months later, you have a half-fiend tiefling baby.

Whats the problem?

You would presumably be just a plain old Half-Fiend.

Huh, same thing for the Half-dragon template.

Well, that's silly.

As it stands it's the easiest way to represent half-breed dragons. I've used a maroon dragon (black with half-red template) and a patina dragon (green w/half-copper). Fun stuff, but I recommend toning down or ignoring the +8 Str altogether.

I haven't had the nerve to spring a pink dragon (red w/half-white) on my players... it's one of the scariest combos, but for some reason I don't think fear will be the reaction around the table.


To the topic: Seeten said it best. Anything goes as long as the concept comes first and fits with the campaign. Just remember to change the name into something that doesn't bring players out of the game, and to use care when stacking multiple template bonuses to ability scores, armor, etc. You can be sure I'm not going to refer to the big bad in my current game as a half-air/half-fire/half-water/half-earth cleric, or even tell them after the fact how I arrived at his stat block... he's got a name, and he's the "champion of elemental evil".

Half-Fiend, and half-what else?

There needs to be a "base creature" to apply the template to. You are not a human, so why would the child be half-human half-fiend? I dont get it.

The problem is whatever the heck you, and your grandmother, were drinking I suppose... And this will be the example I give my players on why never to order the 'house margarita' in extraplanar bars...

If someone was to make a Tiefling Paragon class, I suppose it could look alot like the 1/2 Fiend Template.

On a completely unrelated (and random) note: I once dropped the 1/2 Dragon template x5 and the Kaiju template on a 5-headed Hydra to scare the piss outta my players in 3.0...

On a completely unrelated (and random) note: I once dropped the 1/2 Dragon template x5 and the Kaiju template on a 5-headed Hydra to scare the piss outta my players in 3.0...

UA made a Tiefling Paragon class, and like all things Tiefling put out by WOTC, it blows.
