Half-Hobgoblin?

Pathfinder half-humans get to choose +2 to any stat, so that is a good starting point for half-hobs.

Hob Character Stats (stats are under OGL) in PRPG Bestiary:

So Hobs don't have a lot, but it's all good. Now, I'm not sure about toughness as an automatic bonus feat. Extra HP is extra HP.
+2 to stealth sounds good.
How about a +2 racial bonus to diplomacy verses goblinoids?

Other than that, does Kingmaker have racial stats for a half-hob? If so, that can be used to fill out the rest of the race nicely.

Yeah you may have a point. Maybe I'll just keep Hobs the way the are. It would be a kickass race for monks, druids and other classes that wants physical stat boosts but needs to keep the mental stats high.

Toughness or Endurance for half-hobs is what I was thinking. In the 3.0 KoK version they only have +1 fortitude saves (in addition to stats and darkvision).

Bonus to diplomacy? Doesn't sound very hobgobliny. Maybe Intimidate, but that's still very weak compared to the half-orcs who get that against everyone and get a cool combat power to boot.

Hmm how bout an ability called "Death before Dishonor?"

Now just to figure out what it does....

When you would be affected by a fear effect, you can take nonlethal hit point damage equal to the level of the spell to ignore it for one round. You can continue resisting as long as you remain conscious...

Hmm I think you're on the right path here.. but nonlethal damage is a bit silly. Also, it seems a bit too powerful as you can pretty much ignore Fear spells alotgether at the cost of a few HPs. Maybe if it was 1d6/level. It would still be worth it if the Fear effect caused you to be Frightened or Panicked.

Maybe just a free reroll when failing against a Fear effect or spell?

Just thought of a new name: Disciplined Brute.

If you damage or kill an enemy in combat, you gain the ability to reroll any failed will save for one round. The effect continues as long as you keep the blood flowing.

How's that sound?

I like that reroll thing.

Thank you. Just to specify: You only get one reroll per round, and the ability should read:

If you damage or kill an enemy in combat, you may reroll one failed will save for one round. The effect continues as long as you keep the blood flowing. The reroll must be used in the same round you would otherwise fail a will save.

Playing hobgoblin is all about fluff, so all bonuses have to give is to reinforce this. Maybe instead of a strong trait, give a number of bonuses similar to what halflings have? IE +2 to craft (only to traps), survival and stealth instead of straight Hobgoblins Stealth trait - the sum of bonuses is higher, but single +4 trumps several weaker bonuses.

Well I don't want to give them the same as normal races.

Anyway the strong trait was meant for half-hobgoblins. I think Hobs as they are in the bestiary is fine (but why does it list only heroic versions and not warriors as other races?).

I am currently running an E6 game in Eberron where everyone is playing Orcs and goblinoids.

I think hobbos are fine as is without the LA. If you wanted to balance them with pathfinder races I'd probably also add a bonus fighter feat at 1st level (that's what I did).

Perhaps give the half-hobs the +1 to fort from the 3.0 Kalamar Player's Guide and a +2 bonus to save versus fear effects along with the floating +2 bonus to an ability score from being a half-human plus darkvision. That sounds pretty balanced to me. Maybe the full hobs should have the +2 versus fear as well.
