Half-Life 2 hardware requirements?

I'm probably going to break down for a new box this month, driven mainly by my desire to play HL2. But I can't find any mention of hardware requirements anywhere.

What do you think it's going to take to play HL2 smoothly?

Am I going to be able to get it for about a $1,000 or less?

If so, where?

This is what I have found but I expect changes:

Required Memory: 256 MB
Required Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Required Processor Speed: 1.2 GHz
Recommended Processor Speed: 2 GHz

Nothing about graphic card.

You may want to see this Half-Life 2 forum on the subject as it does not look like a super PC will be needed to play the game.

Sounds like a mid-range Dell will do the job for under $1,000.

1.2 ghz processor, 256MB RAM, DirectX7 level graphics card, Windows XP/200/ME/98, 4.5 GB of avalible HD space, mouse, keyboard, Internet connection required

If you buy the Silver package deal through Steam, you'll get Coumter Strike Source, which uses the HL2 engine. I would guess you can expect to be able to play HL2 if you're able to play CS Source.
