Half-orc revisions

[3.5]Half-orc and half-elf won't change.

Be happy ! They won't change them ! That's what we all wanted, no ?

Q: Is anything being done to half-orcs and half-elves?

A: Many of the races in the Player's Handbook received minor changes, but both half-orcs and half-elves are extremely popular as PCs. If we changed them significantly (particularly the half-orc, which is a very powerful and popular PC race) we would do a disservice to fans of those races and the revision.

Interesting article, thanks for the link. :)

After hearing a fair amount of grumbling about half-elves (<a href="http://enworld.cyberstreet.com/showthread.php?threadid=44172">this recent thread</a> comes to mind), I suppose I half expected them to get tweaked.

I'm kind of curious what altenrate universe survey they were looking at that said half elves and half orcs were really popular and half orcs were powerful.

I'm voting with Eric, they might recieve a minor boost, but I don't think...

a.) Any new stat mods.
b.) Any new favored classes.
c.) Bonus skill points or feats (maybe a weapon prof, or skill bonus though)
d.) Changes to the current list of racial abilities.

I don't know, EricNoah. Any change they make to those mixed races are going to be significant to us, good or bad. One can hope that the changes includes various sub-race mix (e.g., half high elf, half drow elf, half wild elf, etc.).

I've heard some people saying that they want a more Tolkien-esque elf, but there's a very simple method. Just apply the Celestial(or half-celestial, if you prefer) template to an elf and there ya go! :D

might be as little as letting them have access to racial weapon familiarity like elves and dwarves (will) get ... or officially giving the 1/2orc the option to take the scent feat (is there a wis requirement for that?)
