[Halloween] How many Tick Or Treaters?

I had about 150 come to the house. That is about how many we get every year. I cannot report on the costumes since I was walking around with my kids. :D

We made it all the way thru with candy left over! That's the first time we've done that in this house. Our neighborhood is a series of cul-de-sacs connected by a ring road, so there's no thru traffic. And on Halloween, there's a car in every free parking space on the street as parents from all over town (and a few bonus towns I'm sure) come to our neighborhood.

I have no idea how many T or Ters we had, but I do know that we handed out 7 gallons of candy... read that again... 7 gallons...

PS

We only had 25 kids this year. It goes down every year in our neighborhood (a few years back it was at a high of 60 or so), despite the fact that we give out full-size candy bars every year.

We used to get the big assortment-bags of candy, and my husband would sort it all out ahead of time and give each kid exactly the same assortment, at least one of everything. It's just easier to get the big candy bars instead...

When I was really young, my mother would make orange and green popcorn balls before Halloween. Hundreds of them!

Then, after they were all made, she would put them in little baggies, each with a handwritten note that included her name, address, and phone number for fear that the parents of the trick or treaters wouldn't let them eat a home-made goodie.

Additionally, she would take tissues and tie them around Tootsie Pops and draw ghost faces on them... every trick or treater got a "ghost pop" and a popcorn ball. Super fun. :)

About 8 here (A few batches of 2's, a batch of 3 and a solo).

Given the number of families in my neighborhood I expected more.

Oh well, more candy for me. :D

On planes all day coming back from vacation, and didn't get in until midnight, so no halloween for me. :( Nothing bad happened to our house, so if there were trick or treaters they didn't get mad.

Last year was fun, one of the meatball's aunts gave us a jack-o-lantern bunting and he answered the door with me to give out candy. This year if I had been around and had time to make him a costume I would have considered taking him around to show off and scam some candy. I have no shame when it comes to candy, besides, I miss getting to dress up myself.

Alas, I worked again this year, same as the last eight, so I don't even know if there were any going around-- but the landlord didn't leave half a bowl of candy in the entryway this morning for the tenants, so it doesn't look like much...

On the other hand, the college students were out in force over the weekend-- walking home from work Saturday night I saw a mummy, Heidi, Mario & Luigi, and more "naughty nurses" than you could shake a tongue depressor at...

And the "Naughty Cop" had real handcuffs...
