Happy Birthday to me and thanks Scarred Lands!

Today (May 1st) is my birthday. My wife got me Relics and Rituals and my mom gave me $30. I went down to the local gaming shop and expanded my collection to include the Creature Collection II and the Scarred Lands Gazetteer. I won Secrets and Societies in the chat last week and already own the first Creature Collection. I suddenly own a lot of Scarred Lands stuff. I'm not going to be able to run the actual setting for some time, but its invaluable for ideas for my homebrewed world. This is some great stuff!

I won't be able to get anything else for a while (economic reasons), but I was looking for suggestions from those of you already in the know about the Scarred Lands. What else should I pick up? Divine and the Defeated? Relics and Rituals 2? Someting else?

Finally, the CC II looks a lot better than the first one. Part of the reason I got this stuff is because none of my players own any Scarred Lands stuff, so it will be easy to surprise and scare the heck out of them. Any recommendations for kewl monsters, classes, etc?

Thanks to the guys from SSS for putting out some great D20 stuff! Happy birthday to me! And, it isn't too late to send me a present! :)

Happy B-day Drew.

Definately pick up the Divine and the Defeated. Wise and the wicked is nice BUT everyone that owns this book LOVES it. (Me included.)

R&R2 won't be out until August.

If you want to get a more gritty feel, Hollowfaust is also a great choice (though the map isn't that good.) Still a NICE book to have to your SL collection.

Warren is also good IF you want to use Ratmen/Slithren NPCs/Pcs.

Again it's your choice but those are some my favorites.

Happy Birthday! :D

I personally enjoyed the Hollowfaust book, it offers a different idea for a city and a different approach on necromancers in the Scarred Lands. It is a city but it is filled with possible adventure ideas and tons of necromancer spells as well as a few PrCs and monsters.

According to the release schedule, the Ghelspad hardcover is coming out in mid-June. If you can wait that long, I'm pretty sure that one'll be worth picking up.

Edit: D'oh! Oh, yeah, and happy birthday! :) Can't believe I forgot that part... :o

Happy Birthday, Drew!! And a Happy May Day as well.

The Divine and the Defeated is pretty good. It makes a good campaiion to D&Dg if you happen to have that.

If you are looking for stuff to..er ah um, borrow for your game i don't think i would recommend Devine and Defeated as it is very oriented towards the Scarred Lands setting. I can't really see how this would help you in a homegrown campaign unless you plan on a 'war between the gods' type senario. I would tend toward the Warrens of the Ratmen supplement or Hallowfaust (as others have mentioned). I also love the Mithril Citybook (esp. with the colour map you can download now from S&SS website).

If you are planning to set your next campaign in the Scarred Land sthen definately get Divine & Defeated. The only drawback to this product (and it is unfortunately true for all of the SL books) is no index! I really get spoiled by the PHB and DMG having indexes and my much larger stack of SL books having no index at all :(

Bov,

I do agree that Div&Def is very Scarred Lands centered, BUT you do have to admit, the new domains, new spells and of course artifacts ARE good though. But I also though Drew WANTED more Scarred Lands stuff.

Almost forgot about Burok Torn. I would recommend that too, since we already had Mithril and Hollowfaust (note O Bov! ;) ) named for portable cities. Not to mention you might enjoy some of the pr-classses and new items in there too.

If you need new NPCs, definately get Wise and the Wicked. Some of the names you might have heard of like Yugman, Anteas, Virduk, and others are in here too. It's pretty sweet even if there are some issues with layout mismanagement and a few errors. Still worth having if you ask me.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Warrens of the Ratmen yet. I'm reading it now and enjoying it, and of course there is always Wilderness & Wastelands...ahem.
