Happy Holidays, All!

The History Channel had an interestiing program dealing with the more unusual weapons. I came in near the end, but it seems they covered the bill hook (glaive-guisarme), falchion, military picks, mace, flail, and moprning star in th Dutch version, the godentag. Worth watching for sure, and I hope to catch the whole program in a re-run.
Ahh - so it detailed those amorphous weapons that I always purchased for my PC's when I was a kid, but had no idea what they actually looked like!

"My fighter's tough! He's got a glaive-guisarme!"
"What's that?"
"It's...y'know...like a glaive, but it kinda looks like a guisarme, too."

I remember at one point I got a softcover AD&D book (an adventure log booklet, maybe?) that had a few pages with pictures of the more obscure weapons. It was good to finally know what exactly the PC's were carrying.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Merry Christmas to everyone, or whatever other excuse you use for giving gifts and eating to excess.

Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa, a belated Happy Chanukkay, and a Happy New Year to everyone at EN World!

The boards are made special by their members, and it has been an interesting year. Full of joy, sorrow, frustration, and hope. Let's hope that 2003 will be a good year for us all.

The demo of the use of the bill hook with a square shaft of about six-foot lenght, the head about 18 inches, against a knight clad in piece-plate armor was impressive. Shaft to block sword cuts, butt to drive back, point to pierce armor, hook (guisarme portion) to pull around and make ineffective, back-spike to penetrate armor, edges to cut.

Merry Christmas all, and thanks for the merry wishes Gary

My favorite thing about these boards is how the fanboys get when they realize Gary posts to these boards

"OH MY GOD!!!! GARY POSTS HERE?!?!?!?!?!?!"
"Yes, he does. He is also a god."

Which brings a good question ... you being a big guy and all, jolly (when you've had some choice alcohol of course :D ), and have a white beard ... and since Gods can do anything ... are you Santa Clause?

Cause that would explain why you keep bringing me dice :D

To go down the list for the salient points:

I am a game geek and a fanboy in my own right, so I post and recall my early days when being on a list (in a fanzine) with F&SF authors I was a fan of made my day ;)

As for being Santa, well, seems my son Alex expects that. Damned elves have let me down, so I had to buy the gifts... Meantime, my wife keeps my head sufficiently deflated to preclude any fond notions of being deital in stature

Merrie Christmas!

To my fellow gamers, a joyous Yuletide, and a great and successful New Year!

(Hey, I haven't time to send out proper Christmas cards, so cut me some slack

Cheers,
Gary

Thanks and I wish the same to everyone on the Enworld boards.

Happy holidays, Gary and everyone else! Except for you guys who have been annoying me in the chatroom for months. Yeah, you! You know who you are! :D

The rest of you... may your trees be buried under the gift packages!

Happy Holidays, All!

Hey, waitaminute! What're the holidays without a carol or two? C'mon folks, join in!

"On the first day of X-mas, EN World gave to me..."

Happy Holidays in all of its form, from me and all of us at MEG!!!
Have a great one and I will see you X-mas day, maybe even giving out random presents  :D

Trolling ancient Yuletide carols is the way to go:)

Better by far that yet another bad parody of "The Night Before Christmas," no?

Holiday Happiness,
Gary
