BTW, Darkness, I will be in Wien on the 5th of March before heading to Budapest. Yes, I know, an odd time to go, but it's less crowded with tourists.
Hey, pretty cool! :)

Two, is this thread likely to turn into a discussion of the relative merits (or lack thereof) of the current president?
I admit it, that was my first thought. But my second thought was not to intrude such content into a public holiday thread.

Happy Presidents' Day, y'all.

One, I have no idea what a president day is, except that's apparently some kind of holiday. Not that it would be really useful for me to know, mind.

Its a celebration of the birthdays of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln (actual dob 22/02 and 11/02) now on the third monday in february.

We could discuss the relative merits of Lincoln and Washington.
;)

Blast, you beat me to it!

Did you know Grover Cleveland was born with the first name 'Stephen'?

One of the side effects of my employer acquiring another company last year was that we get two more paid holidays now. Today's one of them.

Looks like someone else watched the Today show this morning.

President's Day is kind of a worthless holiday as far as I can tell. Right up there with Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Don't get me wrong, MLK, Washington, and Lincoln were all great people, who contributed to our country's history in a positive way, but there's not any actual *point* to the holiday. It's just there - another day for the Post Office to not deliver any mail. Turns out, now that I work for a financial institution, I actually got today off. But, in all honesty, I'd rather be at work.

In fact, the only point to President's Day is to give an excuse to all the furniture stores and car dealerships an excuse to run a big sale.
