It was Dominos. I'm pretty sure that's identical the world over.

Other than that, it varies just like everything else.

Wait...Domino's delivers across the Atlantic? WOW! That raises all kinds of questions:

1) how long a lead time do you need to build into your order? Is it delivered in 30 days or less?

2) do they put little Domino domes on the delivery planes and boats?

3) how do they keep it hot that long?

Oh, you poor man!

I am aware that Dominos is less than ideal. Thus the general attempt to elicit sympathy. It was, y'know, "Thursday like every other Thursday" over here. While all you guys were surrounded by family and friends, and the smell of roasting turkey, I was sitting here alone with a slice of crappy pizza.

It's better than Italian-style pizza, though (as opposed to Italian pizza, because I had an awesome thick crust pizza in Italy once).

Well, Cro, if the food wasn't as good as you like, I guess you'll be cooking it next year? :)

Actually, I did cook a Thanksgiving meal this year it just wasn't the primary Thanksgiving. One tradition I have is to have left overs from my relatives that come from out of state. But since my sister was doing the main dinner with her in laws I knew we wouldn't get any left overs. So, I did cook a turkey, make stuffing, and basically prepare a Thanksgiving meal just for the purpose of leftovers.

Quite a while back, I broke my collarbone in martial arts practice, just a few days before Thanksgiving. Travelling from Boston to my Mom's place was out of the question, so I was all alone, trying to cook something for myself (roast duck), with one arm in a sling. That was a crappy Thanksgiving, let me tell you, so I do have sympathy. Does it help if I say that in order to do that dinner we were cooking for a day and a half, and I probably personally washed every piece of cookware in the house three times?

If you are over here in the Boston Area at some point, we'll pull the feat again for you - we can get Piratecat and Eridanis and Keterys, and have a big Mod Dinner Party.

While I was in Rome just a few weeks ago I had some nice pizza. The pizza in Venice, by comparison, was atrocious and nasty. Blech'a!

Ah, but Thanksgiving has been like that for every year of my life so far, and will be for every year for the rest of my life!

Well, then, re-purpose Bonfire Night, or something!

The late-year holidays are all pretty much alike - it is dark, it is cold, and generally unpleasant and maybe a bit scary and lonely. Let's light the place up, make some happy noise, and feed each other.

Heck, half the point of my purchase of an egregiously large TV today was to be able to hold movie nights worth attending, so we can have people over and feed them! You don't need a holiday for it. Just do it!
