Hardcore gamers

I've known several people to pass up immediate sex to go to their game. ["Sweetheart, why didn't you offer last night? Why don't you keep it in mind for tomorrow night?"]
I've done this. I've also not done this, and used the line from Rounders: "I promise I'll be quick ... you won't feel a thing." Generally, though, I don't find quickies very satisfying ... I'm loathe to admit it, but I'm a cuddler. So if I've committed to be elsewhere, I take a raincheck.

I don't consider it particularly hardcore, but I'll make it to a game even if I'm too sick to work. (And I have to be pretty damned sick to miss work because of it.) On the other hand, I had some back trouble a few months ago, and when my back was flaring up, I'd cancel games. I guess the upshot is that I'll game while drowning in snot and/or feverish, but not while grimacing in severe pain.

I've passed up extremely soft (i.e., profitable) mid- to high-limit poker games to be at my games. (We're talking expectation in the realm of $1000 to $3000.) That's probably as hardcore as I get.

In general, I plan other activities around my gaming, rather than vice versa.

I'm waiting for the story "I lost my home and a major limb, and still went to game that day." Whoever does that one honestly is the winner of this sad little contest. :D

i met a guy i'm sure would do that...

back in 1986 at Gen Con.

Lain Clayton Davis.

Wow. The worst I've ever done is gamed for 20 hours straight, gone home, took a shower, went to work for 5 hours, went back to gaming.

My fiance is my DM so I don't have to worry about the whole sex thing. :D

I'm waiting for the 'lost a limb' story.

Is there a "minor" limb?

Maybe if you give up sex completely for gaming, it could be argued...

For some reason, arms and legs are frequently mentioned as "major limbs" (do a google and you'll see what I mean) even though they're really the only ones we have. I guess I just picked up the habit of calling them that. :)

Diaglo, who is Lain Clayton Davis?

My brother drove in 25 hours straight to make it to a game. We gamed for 8 hours and he hopped back in his vehicle and drove straight back. Not something I would recommend at all.
