LMAO!

I don't know why this was so funny to me, but at this particular moment it's freaking hilarious!

That is why I was put on this earth. It sure ain't to have sex thats for sure.

My wife was nearly due with our last child. She had a few incidents of 'false' labor (rush to hospital, admissions, tests, waiting, nothing happening, discharged to go home). I was running my weekly game when my wife came in and said she had labor pains. After two false labors, I told her to go lie down for awhile as it was probably false labor again (it was still a week before her due date).

After a half hour, she called and said that the contractions were getting worse. I told her to start getting ready and that I would 'just finish up this combat and end the game for the night'.

After another half hour (who would have believed the combat would still not be finished), she came in and announced, in terms that noone could doubt...

"My water had broken and IT IS TIME TO GO NOW!!"

With that, I told the others to find their way out and the last person to lock the door and off we went to the hospital.

My daughter was born much later that night.

That was 21 years ago.....and the blackmail still is on going. For my daughter's birthday, I must offer up tribute to my wife as well for "my conduct" that night. She likes telling others about that night and they all look at me like I am the biggest jerk around - "Your wife was having a baby and you were playing some stupid game..." sort of look.

When I went to the Lord of the Rings marathon theatrical showing last year, there was a guy in the seat behind me who's wife was in the hospital in labor. I over heard him tell his buddy that "she's supposed to text me if anything changes."

Getting back on topic... :D

A friend of mine would drive 300 miles (one way) once a month to play Champions with us. Sadly he's not so hardcore anymore and hasn't made a session for at least 6 months. (of course, we haven't had a session for the past 3 months at least, so that's not so much!)

For myself, I kept gaming while I was going through 8 months of chemotherapy last year. I went to sessions even when I had to wear a mask and have my fiancee carry my game bag, and sometimes had to come in through the GM's garage because I couldn't manage the steps down to the basement. I missed a few sessions, but not many. :)

Sorry Sniffles. Its just shocking. Please go on I wont interrupt again.

One of the guys in my last group was gaming with us while his wife was having labor pains. We all thought he was crazy for even being there.
