HARN RPG products 30% off sale!!!

First Post
I just found out that now through June 16th, Columbia Games is offering a 30% discount on all Harn products (including Harn d20).

FYI: Harn is one of the most detailed, grim-n-gritty low magic, low fantasy medieval fantasy settings ever created for RPGs. HarnWorld box set gives you everything you need to begin play. You can add assorted kingdom modules for incredible detail for wherever you wish to adventure. HarnManor lets you design historically accurate medieval manors where nobles rule over peasant scum that track manor income and expenses down to the last silver penny (4 sample manors are included, with every NPC and building detailed in the village and the manor house).

These are really superb resources for any fantasy game, especially for those seeking an alternative to high magic/high fantasy... And no, I don't work for Columbia Games, LOL, just thought I'd bring this up for those who want to try Harn but have been put off by the price in the past. Now is the time to buy!

Check out the Harn line here:

Hear, hear... It seems I am not the only one gaming Hârn. But I am working for CGI though.

But yet I find time to get ready to publish the d20 Harn Guide.

Harn is a great world and setting with lots of rich detail. Having said that though, it's overpriced, especially in comparission to the d20 goods out there. Hopefully -people will stock up on goods with the 30% sale because that's what some of those products should be to stay competitive.

The 30% off does really put their products into the affordable range for most gamers, especially those curious to try them sight unseen but not at regular price. I bought a bunch of Harn stuff from them (unfortunately before the sale, LOL), and it arrived within 5 days... Plus, everyhing I bought was very cool and useful, even if I choose not to use it in the (excellent) HarnWorld setting.

I hope people will check it out and give Harn a try.

I recommend:

HARNWORLD (2 book box set with color maps covering the island continent of Harn in amazing detail, including its history, people, economics, politics, etc.)

HARNMANOR (great way to achieve gritty realistic flavor and detail for small medieval communities)

HARN RELIGION (possibly the most detailed book for running fantasy religions in a realistic and comprehensive manner--most of the gods are easily convertible to other settings, such as Harn's Agrik to FR's Bane, etc.)

100 BUSHELS OF RYE (murder/mystery adventure that provides a realistic medieval village and wilderness setting great for introduction into the HarnWorld flavor/setting---would also work great for a medieval Call of Cthulhu game with little to no tweaking!)

The various "kingdom modules" (such as Kaldor, Chybisa, Rethem, Kanday, Orbaal, Tharda, etc.) offer exquisite detailed looks (and color maps) of each kingdom on Harn. The maps locate every single village/manor in the kingdom, of which there are usually hundreds). The (Germanic) kingdom of Rethem is the "evil" kingdom that could serve as a great resource for running Zhentil Keep type campaigns outside the Harn setting. Chybisa is the smallest and most Arthurian/Camelot type kingdom, and a great, manageable way to get into running Harn. Kaldor is the biggest and most popular (most printed and free online adventures/areas are set in Kaldor).

I haven't had any experience with their Harn d20 products (Trobridge Inn, Evael, and Nasty, Brutish and Short: The Orcs of Harn), however.

Harn does really set the bar for detailed campaign settings... an incredible amount of detail that can tell you the daily/weekly/monthly wage for any profession, a complete breakdown of manor cashflow (down to the last penny taxed), and much more. Whether you want that much detail or not is up to you, but thank heavens it's there if you do, unlike other fantasy settings! Once you try Harn, you'll wonder why you never bought it before!

Hey Kantrip, are you also active on the Hârn Forum? Have you seen the sites at www.harnlink.com as well? I am very curious since few seems to know what Hârn is around these parts. Or at least don't give a rat's ass.

Do not forget that there is a new line of modules out named HârnQuest with various detailed articles. They can be bought either in electronical format or shipped directly to autoship customers. Try it here: www.columbiagames.com

Only a friendly remark, Patrick, this is a d20 forum, it's normal people like d20 and it's normal most pople here ignore other systems. In fact, what did you think you were going to find here, Harn fans? In the most famous d20 site?

Again, it was only a remark, please, don't take any offence...

Who the hell do you think... So my infamous temper has finally manage to spread outside the Hârn community eh? Quiver with fear you... Kidding, I am only kidding... I ain't offended but I do need to clarify a few things before you stop me from it altogether. :D

Honestly man these days that are quite a few d20 players who ARE gaming Hârn with the 3E rules. In fact I have started to publish d20 Hârn conversions and will soon after summer release a d20 Hârn Guide. I think with this in mind that Hârn is appropriate to discuss here.

Besides I think you are mistaken also. Hârn is the setting to which, ANY rulesystem can be used, most of those d20. The system CGI release to accompany the world is HârnMaster but no way are the two the same.

D20 will work extremely well in Hârn with the right guide and rules. In fact you can download quite a few nice stuff for the system today. :)

First error: I don't want to stop you from doing anything, it was only a remark :)

Second error: I didn't say it was appropiate :)
I said you shouldn't be surprised if you didn't find lots of Hârn fans ;)

Third error here :)
I know HarnWorld. In fact, I liked some years ago. Now I find it has too much detail, and while I wish I had time and a good RPG group to play a Hârn campaign, I prefer lighter settings ;)
And I loved HârnMaster. I bought it when somebody said it was even more detailed than my beloved Rolemaster. But now, again, I prefer simpler games.

By the way, I love your website and it's maps ;)

It was only a remark. Hârn is a good setting, a great setting.

Yeah I know. Thanks for the reply... :)

I will focus on d20 mixed with Hârn. I hope some will find it to their liking because it is an alternative. If that doesn't work I will start harassing you with Kalamar and d20 questions. Just you wait and see. Gnahahah... :p
